A number of legal and immigration reforms have occurred in the UAE in recent weeks, all of which will have a significant impact on daily life in the country.
The UAE’s golden visa scheme, which provides expatriate employees in select fields with a 10-year resident visa, is one of them.
The scheme, which was first established in May of last year to allow exceptional workers and international investors to deepen their roots in the UAE, also allows the country to profit from their experience. The cardholder’s spouse and children were also granted long-term residency.
“Throughout history, the UAE has welcomed millions of people seeking to pursue their goals and improve their lives,” Sheikh Mohammed remarked during the unveiling of the initiative.
“The golden card is our way of saying hello to everyone who wants to be a part of the UAE’s success story and call it home.”
After eighteen months, many more people are able to make a long-term home in the UAE. Now that the program has been enlarged, all doctors, as well as more scientists, data professionals, and high-achieving school and university students, are eligible for the long-term residency visa.
So, what’s the deal with the visa? How can you know if you’re eligible, and why is this crucial for the country?
